ATC: Request Vectors
When someone requests vectors to an airport, what is approaches responsibility? Do I just get them pointed to the airport and release them to the tower, or is it the same as requesting ILSapproach where they specify the runway, but in this case I get to pick the runway?

Re: ATC: Request Vectors
ILS Approach cannot be requested to an airport like KNUC, for example, that only has GPS approaches. Then the pilot would request GPS approach to a requested runway. From there you give them headings and altitudes to line them up and space and sequence among other planes. That means they deviate from their FP, which is OK for both both radar vector requests as well as ILS or GPS Approach requests. You pick the runway for radar vector requests, however you may deny the ILS runway approach request or change the aircraft to a different runway if needed.

There's a request ILS approach, request GPS approach, and a request approach with no runway specified... It's unclear to me what that last request is that doesn't specify a runway.

You choose the runway in this case... which is the active runway in use.weecabin wrote:a request approach with no runway specified... It's unclear to me what that last request is that doesn't specify a runway.
